Tell us more about the role of an Account Manager at Gumtree?

At its core, being an Account Manager is nourishing clients and providing support and guidance whilst helping them grow out their advertising plans, so that they can build up their business on Gumtree. From creating fleshed out advertising campaigns, to supporting clients when they are advertising in new locations, to giving them advice on how to optimize their adverts, the role encompasses a lot of different skills and challenges to solve.

How long have you been at Gumtree?

I’ve been at Gumtree for about 2 and ½ years and will look to celebrate my 3 year anniversary in October!

What are the key traits that make a successful Account Manager at Gumtree?

One of the best traits to have is the ability to blend the sales aspect of Account Management with the Customer-Centric side of it. Focusing on understanding and meeting client needs to build long-term relationships, then using that relationship to upsell and close deals with them effectively. The perfect recipe for success.

What do you most love about your role?

Seeing and hearing about successful advertising campaigns. A lot of work goes into designing the ads, putting them in the right locations and figuring out a plan to give them the best exposure, so when the data comes back to us and we can see that the campaign has been a success, it means all the hard work has been worth it.

What advice would you give to someone looking build a career in Sales and Account Management at Gumtree?

Stay adaptable, it’s a fast-paced environment so every day comes with new challenges and new problems to solve, and being creative with your ways of thinking and problem solving is a massive step towards being successful at Gumtree.
